Stefan (or anyone else who may know),
Do you happen to know the maker of the guitar that Mississippi John is playing in this video? Folks over at the UMGF are puzzling and puzzing over this one.... Thanks, David |

Hi David,
That guitar was made by Jack Alderson, a former student of my brother, who lived southwest of Philadelphia near Chester, PA at the time he made it. I saw the guitar when it was a work in progress in Jack's basement. That was only about 44 years ago, more or less--whew! All best, Johnm |

Hi David, The guitar was made specifically for John Hurt, as a gift. I don't believe Jack ever finished it as he wished, because when he showed it to John
Hurt, unfinished, John wanted it "as is", so Jack gave it to him that way. It may possibly have been the first guitar Jack ever made, or maybe the
second. He was really a handy guy. all best, Johnm

Hi Gerry, I'm sorry to say I don't know the answer to either question. The last time I saw Jack was when he showed my brother and me the guitar in
progress, I believe, and I don't know anything about the disposition of John Hurt's estate. all best, Johnm
